Turning Audio Files Into Video Files With Windows Movie Maker For Free Storage on YouTube and Easy Embed Option

This tutorial was written to show you how to turn your audio files into video files so that you may upload them at YouTube since often times our hosting accounts can not support a ton of audio or video file.

Getting Started:

To begin, you will need the following:

  • Audio file you wish to convert.
  • Image overlay used as a background slide on your audio file. We recommend your logo and contact info.
  • Title Text for Video File – What will you be calling this video?
  • This manual 🙂
  • Patience. This could take 1-3 hours, depending on how many steps you already have completed.

Creating Video File

    1. Open Windows Movie Maker
    2. Under the “Tasks” pane on the left side, select “Import” and then “Pictures” and select your image you want to use as your video background slide mentioned above.
      (See section 1 in image.)
    3. Under the “Tasks” pane on the left side, select “Import” and then “Audio or Music” and select your audio track you want to use as your video background slide mentioned above.
Note: Both items should appear under the “Imported Media” section to the right of the Tools options.
    4. Drag the audio file down from the “Imported Media” section into the “Audio/Music” section of the “Timeline.”
    5. Drag the image down from the “Imported Media” section into the “Video” section of the “Timeline.”
    6. Drag your image file to the length of the audio file by selecting the black arrow at the end of the image file and dragging to the length of the audio file.
Note: In order to select and drag to the entire length of a long audio file in one frame, simply edit the “Zoom” in the timeline to fit your entire file within the width of your existing window pane.
    7. Under the “Tasks” pane on the left side, select “Edit” and then “Titles and Credits.”
You may choose the title overlay you prefer. In order to make it simply over the entire length of audio, select “Title on the selected clip.”
Enter in 1 line or 2 separate lines of text to lay over the file. Often times this is the audio track/video title. Select “Change the font text and color” to do just that and change the formatting of the text.
Select “Choose the title animation” to change the way the content “fades” or “comes” in.
Note: “Sports Scoreboard” is a good option if your background image is busy and it is difficult to see the text title with the image underneath.
      Select “Add title” when finished.
    8. Test your video by pressing “play” in the preview section. Make any modifications to the text title animation before moving forward.
    9. Once the title, is as you like it, select your file in the “Title Overlay” section.
    10. Drag your title file to the length of the audio file by selecting the black arrow at the end of the image file and dragging to the length of the audio file.
Note: In order to select and drag to the entire length of a long audio file in one frame, simply edit the “Zoom” in the timeline to fit your entire file within the width of your existing window pane.
    11. Again, test your video by pressing “play” in the preview section. Make any modifications to the text title animation before moving forward.
    12. Once your file is as you like it, you are ready to save your new video. Select “File” and then “Publish Movie.”
Select the appropriate option for saving that you will be using the new video for. If you will only be uploading to YouTube, you may choose the “This Computer” option.
Name your file and select the “Browse” button to select a saving location.
Keep “Best quality for playback” default option selected and click “Publish.”
