*singing* “On the 12 day of Christmas my true love gave to me…. people helping our community”

Really, the best gift you could ever give is nothing material; its yourself. Your time, your dedication, your help. Over this holiday season we have been watching various people and businesses extend a hand of love to help people in need. So grab a cup of cocoa and read some warm fuzzy stories, we just want to say THANK YOU to those who serve!!!! Here is a very short list, please comment about any other worthy causes so we can get the word out:

Angel Tree is an amazing organization who delivered gifts to THOUSANDS of children who have parents in prison.

Snowball Express brought hope to children of fallen soldiers by taking them to Disneyland and Universal Studios.

Laura’s House is constantly providing shelter and safety to abused women and children in Orange County and across the country.

Beckman High School in Irvine sent over one thousand Christmas cards and letters to our troops.

Saddleback Church served Thanksgiving dinner to over 800 people at their facility. They also had food, books, and supplies delivered to people who have been displaced from their homes and have to live in motels.

Neighborhood Car Care in Mission Viejo adopted an entire classroom in the Inland Empire and gave them gifts

Habitat 4 Humanity donated a car to my Habitat partner. Last year when her husband died around this time, rather than shut her out of the program, she was embraced, housed, and taken care of.

Question to ponder in 2009: Does it really matter how bad our economy is, if we always just focus on the good in life?
Happy New Year everyone!!! May your 2009 be blessed with abundance!!!!
